KRGV in Texas reports that a citizen found files full of medical records from a home health care agency scattered on the street:
Jose Diaz’s walk to the grocery store led him to files with names of people, their address, phone number and social security numbers.
Most of documents are from late December. They’re medical files from a home health care agency.
We went to Milagros II Home Health in Weslaco. They are at the address stamped on the papers.
Manager Edward Rippistine offered an explanation. He said, “We had a staff member actually who ended up losing a bag. She recovered it, but wasn’t able to get all of the paperwork. It was an accident, yes, because this is something that we generally safeguard as much as we possibly can.”
