Backcountry Gear is notifying some customers that malware may have compromised their payment card information. In a letter dated July 28, owner Michael Monson writes that on July 23, they discovered that malware inserted on April 27 compromised customers names, addresses, purchase information, and credit or debit card numbers – but not PINS or bank account numbers – for transactions occurring between April 27 and July 23. The total number of affected customers was not disclosed.
Those affected were not offered any services, but overall, I thought it was a very well-written disclosure letter. See what you think.
