The Carle Clinic Association, one of the largest private physician groups in the United States, plans to implement an electronic kiosk-based patient check-in program at its 11 branches in Central Illinois.
Carle Clinics will use the My Patient Passport ExpressT kiosk from Mequon, Wis.Company officials say the kiosks have been customized specifically for Carle’s needs, and feature a 17-inch touchscreen, magnetic card reader, back-lit signature pad, bar code scanner, biometric finger print reader, both an 80mm receipt printer and an 8.5″ sheet printer and 801.llg WiFi with WPA/WPA2 capabilities.

The D2 kiosk allows patients to check in, update records, make payments and map locations at the clinic. The vendor noted that the My Patient Passport ExpressT has been in development for more than two years, and after field testing in pilot hospitals the kiosk was unveiled at HIMSS08 in Orlando, Fla. , February 24-28.
