Police in Hampton are looking for a woman who they’d previously arrested for prescription fraud, only to discover after her release that the identification she provided was false. It turns out that the ID she provided belonged to a victim of identity theft.
The department issued the following news release with details about the incident, as well as the now unidentified suspect:
The Hampton Police Division is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying a female that is wanted in reference to an identity fraud.
The investigation revealed that police were called to the Farm Fresh pharmacy, located in the 2100 block of Coliseum Drive, reference to a prescription fraud on October 24, 2007. Officers arrived on scene and made contact with the female suspect. She was arrested for 1 count of Prescription Fraud for attempting to pass a forged prescription. At the time of her arrest, she used the victim’s name, address, date of birth and social security number.
The victim, a 33-year-old Hampton female, contacted police last week after finding out that there was a warrant out for her arrest for missing court. The victim reported that she had lost her purse last year and that she does not know the suspect.
