The Erie County Executive’s office issued a statement Friday announcing a county laptop comuter [sic] was reported stolen from a county health facility at 608 William Street. The county says the theft appears to have occurred on or about August 28th.
County Attorney Cheryl Green says once staff discovered the theft, they reported it to Buffalo Police August 29th. County departments have also initiated an investigation into the missing laptop.
Individuals who met with a social workers at both the William Street and the 1500 Broadway locations may have their personal private information on the laptops. The county’s health and law departments have begun notifying affected individuals.
