Township police on Jan. 29 arrested two Brooklyn residents, Floyd Benoit and Shanel M. Kerr, on charges of committing credit card fraud at the Wal-Mart on Route 22.
Kerr was arrested and charged with the following crimes: fraudulent use of a credit card, theft by deception, forgery and uttering a forged instrument after police were informed of suspicious activity by Wal-Mart loss prevention personnel.
The police investigation also revealed Kerr was using fraudulent credit cards to purchase approximately $1,400 worth of merchandise. The cards are believed to be accounts belonging to other cardholders without their authorization.

Police recovered a 40″ LCD Television, two laptop computers, and three American Express gift cards from the suspects’ vehicle. Police also retrieved a skimming device, which is believed to contain more account numbers. Police also believe the trio may be tied to a larger identity theft scheme possibly operating out of New York.
