CO: 150 missing hospital patient records found

Posted on February 10, 2009 by Dissent

All 150 patient records missing for three months from Saint Joseph Hospital and Lutheran Medical Center have been found, according to Exempla Healthcare and FedEx.

The documents had been lost by FedEx while being shipped between two third-party groups doing compliance and audit checks to make sure Exempla Healthcare meets complex Medicare requirements.

FedEx spokesman Jim McCluskey says FedEx found the records within two hours of receiving a description of the package and a tracking number from Exempla Tuesday. Exempla said it had not called FedEx Headquarters until Monday when 9Wants to Know contacted the hospital for comment on the missing records.
