In the justice system:

  • Four Romanian men were arrested in Florida after being accused of skimming a Chase Bank ATM in Cicero, NY. They have been linked to similar schemes around the country. More.
  • In Utah, Frank Miranda and his wife Valerie Pena were sentenced for conspiracy to commit access device fraud. Some of the victims were Verizon Wireless customers; Pena had worked at a Utah call center for Verizon and had handled card information for four victims. More.
  • Yvette Burrison became the fourth Department of State employee to be charged with illegally accessing the passport application records of celebrities. More.

Elsewhere:

  • Suntharam Thevaratnam has been jailed for cloning more than 1,000 debit and credit cards while working as a cashier at a Northampton petrol station. More.
  • Customers at a Shell gas station in Leicester found that their card details were used to withdraw money from various places across the world, including India. More.
  • Skimmers attached to ATMs at two branches of Barclays have been linked to fraud. More.
  • Glenn Baker, a Norfolk community support officer, faces a disciplinary hearing after being convicted of accessing police records for personal gain. More.
  • There were more reports of ATM fraud and skimmers out of Canada this week.
