The Associated Press reports that Carol Bass and Helen Lehman, both records clerks at the Fort Myers Police Department, were fired in March after reportedly misusing a classified search database to look up people one of them was considering dating.
It’s nice to read more reports of people actually being fired for inappropriate use of databases. Although I realize some people may think a reprimand or suspension might be more “fitting” for the “crime,” if employers are serious about stopping the problem, then a zero tolerance policy may be the way to go.
