More than $400,000 was stolen from Bullitt County taxpayers, but some county employees are worried more was taken than money.
County employees are worried their identities were stolen, too.
Bullitt County officials said they have recovered some of the money.
“It’s kind of scary to think about someone out there having access to your information,” said Bullitt County EMS employee Janice Deweese.
Deweese is one of 180 county employees who may have had their personal information stolen. “Critical information such as people’s Social Security numbers,” said County Judge Executive Melanie Roberts.
But Roberts said there’s a chance that the information was not actually stolen.
“They think maybe the thief or thieves didn’t tap into that information,” Roberts said.
