In the justice system:
- A medical student at Saint Joseph College from Nigeria, was charged June 29 in federal court with bank fraud and aggravated identity theft affecting 80 victims.
- Cambridge police arrested Wayne Deleveaux for using government accounts from Mount Auburn Hospital to fraudulently buy hundreds of BlackBerry Storms last week. He reportedly had the devices delivered to his home. More.
- Alvin Spencer was sentenced in Maryland to four years in prison for cashing checks stolen from the mail at the Upper Marlboro Post Office using fake identification provided by a conspirator. More.
- Danielle McClain, elected to serve as a neighborhood homeowners association’s treasurer in the Fegenbush Place division, had a history of ID theft and other crimes. Now she is charged with stealing from the homeowners’ association. She was also charged with ID theft after allegedly befriending a patient at the Hurtborne Care Center, where McClain managed to get a job as an occupational therapist despite her criminal past. More.
