In the justice system:
- Bulfrano Maldonado was found guilty of identity theft. Maldonado had successfully opened a bank account in another person’s name and managed to obtain two loans. He was only caught when he tried to convert the loan to his own name by telling the bank he had changed his name — and apparently, his social security number. More.
- Three suspects are facing charges in a large credit card counterfeiting and identity theft ring in Delaware County: Kevin Henson, Ylana Starks and Donald Mewha. Officers recovered credit card manufacturing equipment along with 400 credit cards belonging to real people. More.
- Clark Mower has been arrested. For the past 35 years, he allegedly used the identitiy of an Oregon resident to avoid arrest warrants and to file for bankruptcy after running up $100,000 in debt. More.
- Amon Peoples and Tonyell Toliver were indicted by a federal grand jury on identity theft and credit card fraud. According to a news release, the defendants were found in possession of stolen debit and credit card numbers and access device-making equipment. More.
