One hundred and sixty people are now in the process of being notified over concerns that their names and Social Security numbers were exposed on the Internet.
It turns out a customer got an e-mail from a stranger, indicating their information was discovered on the Nashville Career Advancement Center’s Web site.
The Career Center knew the claim to be false because it doesn’t put that kind of information on the Internet. [Epistemology 101: you can’t know something that isn’t true? — Dissent]. But as a precaution, it had IT experts run an audit, which is when they found that Google had somehow captured a maintenance file from the center’s intranet.
