Yesterday, “>KOB in New Mexico reported that Amber Tapia was arrested and charged with having stolen information on 447 people and have used information on 50 of them. Now KRQE adds that it is not yet clear how she obtained all of their information, but a police spokesperson said that 200-300 of them were customers who’d stayed at an unnamed local hotel — although how she got their information is still being investigated. The police reported that:
the hotel manager doesn’t keep hard copies of customer information and never throws them away in a dumpster.
But Prudencio said Tapia could have been dumpster diving when she tried to steal the identities of workers at a local funeral home.
Tapia is out of jail after posting $7,500 bond this week.
