Chris Cooper of Bloomberg.com reports that Digital Direct, Inc., a unit of Mistubishi Corp., had a breach of their e-commerce web site that resulted in the compromise of 52,000 customers’ credit card numbers.
According to Cooper, the breach, which reportedly originated overseas (from them), was first brought to Digital Direct’s attention by credit card companies who alerted them that credit card numbers were being used illegally at another store.
The company issued a statement (pdf), but as it’s all in Japanese, I have no idea what they said. If any reader can translate, thanks.
