Amber Lee of KOAT in Albuquerque reports:
Three men and two women are in custody on suspicion of running what police say was a identity theft ring.
Investigators say what started as a purse snatching turned into something much bigger, when one of the suspects left behind an obvious clue.
“In this particular case, when they fled they dropped their own real ID and left it behind at the scene,” said Albuquerque Police Chief Ray Schultz.

Police said this highly organized crime ring not only robbed victims but they had devices to make keys and driver’s licenses too.
Police also said the suspects stole mail from community mailboxes with a post master key and then made fake IDs with the information.
