Bill Bush provides additional information on a breach first reported yesterday involving personal information of Columbus Publc Health employees:
None of the health department’s 450 employees have reported identity theft, said spokesman Jose Rodriguez. The department thinks the information of as many as 300 current employees and about 100 former employees was compromised, he said.

Columbus police would not identify the person found with the records but said no charges have been filed. Weiner said the person obtained the records over a three-year period but would not say how.
On Tuesday, the health department placed a mail-room employee on paid leave pending a departmental investigation into unspecified violations of work rules.
Rodriguez wouldn’t say whether that suspension was related to the case. However, Public Health initially said it didn’t have to release administrative records about the suspension because of a criminal investigation.
Court records show that the suspended employee pleaded guilty to receiving stolen property a decade ago, paying $1,716 in restitution to three parties.
