Insurance giant Health Net’s historic settlement over a security breach leaves some area physicians unsettled.
Attorney General Richard Blumenthal announced a settlement with Health Net and its affiliates for failing to secure private patient medical records and financial information on nearly 500,000 Connecticut patients. However, the settlement doesn’t address the breach of private physician information.
“We commend the Attorney General for enforcing HIPPA, but we are concerned there was no mention of the release of physician information,” said Dr. Matthew Katz, executive vice president of the Connecticut State Medical Society.
