The privacy commissioner is launching an investigation into how a Calgary hospital admitted a sick man using the stolen identity of another man.
The man, now known only by the Chinese nickname Golo, used a stolen Alberta Health Care card of a casino aquaintance when he was admitted at Foothills hospital over a year ago. He died May 21, 2009 and was buried under the stolen name of the card holder.
As police prepare to exhume the man’s remains in Queen’s Park Cementery to collect evidence to help determine his identity, privacy commissioner Frank Work wants answers about health card scrutiny.
