Research just released claims that malicious intent is behind 62% of data losses, with insider breaches accounting for 33% and hackers accounting for 29% of noted incidents.
The study of more than 1100 US and international IT security professionals also found that the remaining data losses were accidental in nature.
According to Imperva, the IT security vendor that sponsored the survey, the most effective data security strategy noted by respondents was one that sues technology to protect applications and databases, in parallel with a more traditional approach. [Great Freudian slip there? — Dissent]
