Officials at Shaw Air Force Base, S.C., are warning airmen to watch their credit card balances after reports of credit card fraud on base.
The instances of credit card fraud involved 20th Force Support Squadron buildings at Shaw. No Army and Air Force Exchange Service facilities were affected, said Lt. Col. Belinda Petersen, spokeswoman at the Air Force Personnel Center at Randolph Air Force Base, Texas.
Petersen declined to comment on the scope or timeline of the fraud, citing an ongoing investigation by the Office of Special Investigations. Petersen also said it may be quite some time before the cause of the incidents is known.
OSI will determine “if we are dealing with one case or related cases, as well as when, where and who’s involved,” spokeswoman Linda Card said.
