As a follow-up to a breach initially covered here, the Courier-Journal reports:
Former mortgage broker Brett Howard pleaded guilty Monday to one count of aggravated identify theft and 19 counts of bank fraud for using customers’ stolen credit card numbers on a spending spree that included luxury purchases.
Under a plea agreement, the government agreed to drop 18 counts of identity theft and recommend the lowest sentence under federal guidelines.
Howard, 22, who worked for HomeQuest Mortgage Network, faces a minimum sentence of two years in prison. He also agreed to pay $15,996 in restitution.
