The other day I linked to reports indicating that card fraud was down 56% in Cape Town and 20% in the U.K. this year.
Now an article I saw this week on Inside Retailing cites Visa reports that counterfeit credit card fraud is down 45% in Australia this year. Another article, this one on International Business Times, also confirms the decline in card fraud in Australia but notes that debit card fraud and check fraud are up. I wonder if that’s what the wrap-up for the year will show: credit card fraud down, but debit card fraud up? I guess we’ll have to wait for the formal analyses to find out.
