The University of York data leak reported earlier this week continues to get a lot of attention in the UK. A news story today in the Yorkshire Post adds/confirms a few details:
Students’ addresses, phone numbers and even A-level results were published on the University of York website in what a campaign group has called the largest breach of privacy it has known of in Britain.
Dates of birth, phone numbers and addresses of emergency contacts were also made freely accessible.

The university has said 148 individual records were accessed via the site and those involved would be contacted.
The university could not confirm the number of details leaked but said there were currently only 16,948 students registered on its books.
I’m a bit uncertain about their statement that the 148 whose records were accessed would be contacted. Does that mean that others will not be contacted/informed, or does that mean that the 148 will get an additional notification?
