George Brennan reports:
Four teachers whose Social Security numbers were released publicly have been officially notified of the breach and offered privacy insurance by the school department, Town Manager George “Bud” Dunham said.
The Social Security numbers were on forms released by an attorney working for schools Supt. Mary Ellen Johnson purportedly to show that her administrative assistant had either forged her signature or used a signature stamp without her consent.
More than a dozen “change of status” forms were released by attorney Paul Nevins on behalf of Johnson, but only four of them contained Social Security numbers that matched the names on the forms. Nevins handed them out as part of a large packet of information at a May 4 press conference aimed at trying to discredit an investigation that Johnson had bullied and harassed her administrative assistant Joan Caulkins.
