Meridian Health workers’ personal data was on computer equipment stolen from employee’s home

Posted on July 13, 2011 by Dissent

APP.com reports that a burglary on June 25 at the home of a Meridian Health employee resulted in the loss of a laptop containing an unspecified amount of personal or sensitive employee data.

Cavanaugh said he could not comment on how many employees were affected or whether the employee was authorized to bring the computer equipment home. He also would not say what position that employee held at the company.

Employees at various Meridian Health locations are affected, he said.

Meridian is the parent company of Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Riverview Medical Center in Red Bank, Ocean Medical Center in Brick, Southern Ocean Medical Center in Manahawkin and Bayshore Community Hospital in Holmdel. Its partner companies include home health services and rehabilitation centers.

Read more on APP.com. No statement appears on Meridian Health System’s web site at the time of this posting and the breach does not appear on HHS’s breach tool page (at least not yet).
