Hiran Ratnayake reports:
A St. Francis Hospital doctor lost a thumb drive in the spring that contained the unprotected personal health care information of 474 maternity patients.
The thumb drive was lost for as long as two weeks and contained the names of the patients and relevant details about their care, St. Francis officials said.
The thumb drive did not contain Social Security numbers, home addresses, telephone numbers, health insurance, billing information and the names of the babies, who now would be 9 or 10 years old.

An unknown sender returned the thumb drive on June 11 to the home of the doctor, who did not realize it was missing. Two days later, he notified the hospital, said Jenifer Harris, St. Francis spokeswoman.
