El Paso County Community College hacked, defaced and data dumped

Posted on November 1, 2011 by Dissent

Over on Cyber War News (a blog I wish I’d known about sooner!), Lee J writes:

El Paso County Community College has been targeted due to pure lack of security,

@DestructiveSec has been busy away in the servers  taking what they wish snooping around and leaving a mess for them to clean up as well as a defaced website.

The attack is due to lack of security and because they have failed to fix the exploits this has happened. For full insight read the dox release. Now this isn’t a normal thing we would publish but due to the fact its a government college this has to be put in the public eye so that every can see how insecure they are.

[…]

The page for the data dump does not seem to be available, but according to a tweet, @DestructiveSec obtained staff documents, including CV’s. There was no mention as to whether any student files were accessed or dumped. If anyone made a copy of the data dump, please let me know if it contained student personally identifiable information.
