A Southport mechanic is counting the cost after a thief stole cash and a computer from his garage while he was busy working on a car.
Gordon Mawdsley, the owner of the Autofix Centre on Shakespeare Street, said the impact on his business would be “massive”, following the theft of his new computer, which contained his database of over 600 customers.

“The computer was only seven months old but it had 23 years of history on there with all the addresses and contact details of my regular clients.
Read more on Southport Visiter. This will likely go into DataLossDB.org as a fringe incident, but under the U.K.’s laws, I wonder whether the mechanic will voluntarily report this to the Information Commissioner’s Office.
