A hacker broke into the website of the Sinterklaas television news show and stole personal information about 13,000 children, including names, dates of birth and e-mail addresses, website Tweakers.net reported on Tuesday.
NTR, the broadcasting company responsible for the programme, told Tweakers the information was contained in a part of the database where the security had not been updated since 2008.
This part of the database allows children to upload drawings and download illustrations they could colour in.
Tweakers told website nu.nl they have spoken to the hacker and he has assured them he only downloaded this information and nothing more.

A translation of the Tweakers.net report indicates that the children using Santa Claus: The Journal site were instructed that they had to provide their names and e-mail addresses or Santa wouldn’t give them any gifts.
That’s just so… mean.
