NY: Head of youth program fired over discarded sensitive documents

Posted on June 20, 2012 by Dissent

News12 reports on an incident in the Bronx:

The head of a summer youth program in West Farms is out of a job after sensitive and personal information was found dumped out on the sidewalk.

The discarded files were left in plain sight, piled in a Dumpster across from the Phipps Community Development Center. The documents contained names, addresses and Social Security numbers of high school students and other young people who applied for summer jobs through the center.

Many parents say they were able to rescue their teen’s papers, but are worried that the information already ended up in the wrong hands.

Quick and strong response, but there’s no indication of whether the center has offered any other support or help to those affected. Does anyone know or receive any letter?
