This is unusual. A former employee out to embarrass her employer, Alexian Brothers Behavioral Health Hospital, allegedly sent letters to patients who had received electroshock therapy to tell them that the therapy had failed and that they should get frontal lobotomies. And according to a report by Rummana Hussain of the Chicago Sun-Times, some of the letters included vulgar comments and threats of exposing sensitive information to the victims’ families.
Information provided by the hospital and sheriff’s office indicates that the disgruntled employee used stolen letterhead and medical records. The letters were reportedly sent between February 5, 2011 and June 25, 2012. The employee had been fired in 2010 and there’s no clear statement as to how many patients’ data she may have stolen, nor when she stole it. Did she steal the medical records after she was fired or before she was fired?
Michelle Morrison of Elk Grove Village has been ordered held on $50,000 bond.
