FEI Company has notified employees that a laptop stolen on August 29 contained their personal information.
In a letter from their counsel to the New Hampshire Attorney General’s Office, the firm indicates that the laptop held employees’ names, Social Security numbers, taxpayer I.D. information, salary information, date of birth, home address, and basic employment information. The letter to the employees only mentions names and Social Security numbers specifically, however.
Neither the notification to the state nor individuals discloses where the laptop was located when it was stolen and there was no mention of any security protection on the laptop. The firm did offer employees free credit monitoring services.
