PayJunction is notifying sales agents that their names, Social Security numbers, and bank account numbers may have been compromised by unauthorized access to a backup of an internal business system.
In a letter sent to those affected, Randy Modos, President of PayJunction, writes that they learned in late September of the July breach.
The letter is not clear as to whether the unauthorized was external or internal, but they write:
We are making every improvement necessary to ensure that this type of data loss does not occur in the future. We value the relationships we have built with our sales agents over the last decade, you are the foundation of our success, and we will continue to take steps to remedy this issue.
Those affected have been offered free credit monitoring with AllClear ID, although Modos notes that they have no evidence to suggest any information has been misused.
