Sometimes, despite your best efforts to deal with a malware problem, the system can be re-infected, as Birmingham-based Colonial Properties Trust learned back in April and May.
CPT reports that they promptly contacted a forensics firm after detecting malware on their system, and within three days of detection, the malware had been eradicated. One week later, however, they discovered that the system had been re-infected. CPT called in a forensics firm again, and within two days, the malware was removed and the security of the network was restored.
Investigation of the breach revealed that the malware may have affected one spread sheet with names and Social Security numbers.
