Emily Gurnon has an update on the case of a former Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry employee charged with stealing employees’ information:
Roxanne K. DeFlorin, a former state staffer who had the personal information of hundreds of public employees at her home, was convicted Wednesday of identity theft by a Ramsey County jury.
Representing herself at trial, the 50-year-old DeFlorin argued that her three co-defendants were the guilty parties and that she knew nothing of their crimes.
For their part, her co-conspirators had testified that she was trading the identity information for meth. Prosecutors had charged her with stealing identity from the state agency she worked for as well as the Public Employees Retirement Association of Minnesota database.
