Today hacker collective @deletesec announced a breach and leak of data on a United nations based website. The site is the Internet Governance Forum and it appears to be registered to Chengetai Masango and is also the Programme and Technology Manager at United Nations Secretariat for the Internet Governance Forum.
Its purpose is to support the United Nations Secretary-General in carrying out the mandate from the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) with regard to convening a new forum for multi-stakeholder policy dialogue – the Internet Governance Forum (IGF). The site provides an interactive, collaborative space where all stakeholders can air their views and exchange ideas.
The breach was announced on twitter and posted to defuse.ca. The leak contains 3,215 users real names, user names, email addresses and encrypted passwords with some of the emails belonging to government orgs and alike. Total of 3,200 accounts are non duplicate and a total of 537 different email providers are affected.
