Well, I finally got more information on this breach involving the Memphis VA Medical Center.
The Department of Veterans Affairs sent me their report on the incident, which occurred on December 1, when a Resident was the victim of an armed robbery in the VA Medical Center west parking lot. In the Resident’s possession at the time was an assignment list containing 28 patients’ names and last four digits of their Social Security numbers.
Apart from notifying those affected and offering free credit monitoring, medical leadership at the VA center was also advised to stop residents and providing from taking sensitive information off medical center premises without signed authorizations to do so.
