EMC is notifying employees after an unnamed vendor’s employee mistakenly sent out an Excel file with their personal information to parties not authorized to have their personal information. The error, which occurred on January 7, occurred because a quick glance at the file did not reveal the hidden fields containing their names, SSN, and old and new addresses.
As soon as the error was detected, the vendor contacted EMC and contacted all the recipients of the emailed file, who confirmed they deleted it.
Those affected were offered a free year of credit monitoring via InfoArmor.
A copy of their notification letter, dated March 3, was uploaded to the New Hampshire Attorney General’s site.
