Boulder Community Health has now identified a total of 16 patients — up from nine Wednesday — who have received letters from an anonymous source, containing copies of their own medical records stolen from an undetermined area around the hospital’s Foothills campus.
In a statement Thursday, BCH said it still is in the process of collecting information and is reaching out to all its physician clinics to determine if any of their patient information has been compromised.
BCH officials do not yet know how the records were stolen but suggested Thursday they were not taken from recycling bins, contrary to what the anonymous whistleblower implied in a letter that at least some of the victims received in addition to their own patient information.
