A Sarnia, ON woman is asking how a medical company knew details of her surgery when they tried to persuade her to change surgeons.
While Patricia Pede is recovering from surgery this week, she has more on her mind than just the physical discomforts. She’s also occupied with worrying about how her medical records were obtained by a private cosmetic surgery clinic whose agent tried to sign her up for surgery that was already booked with a different doctor.
Ontario’s Privacy Commissioner is looking into how the Centric Health plastic surgery clinic near this south-western Ontario city got the information about Pede’s surgery—an elective procedure to be paid by the government health insurance plan OHIP–when Pede had never been in touch with the clinic before.
