Snooping staff still top security issue

Posted on August 20, 2014 by Dissent

Erin McCann reports:

When it comes to data breaches, hacking and loss or theft of unencrypted devices are far from healthcare security professionals’ only concerns. Employee snooping and insider misuse also prove to be among the biggest privacy threats in the healthcare sector today.

Read more on HealthcareITNews, where Erin mentions some recent cases, all of which – and more – have been reported on this blog. I really feel like a broken record sometimes on the insider threat. Yes, I know that the hacks like CHS where you have huge numbers affected grab media headlines, but the insider threat – whether it’s for snooping or fraudulent misuse – is just so pervasive and under-addressed.
