Schools re-opened on Long Island right after Labor Day, and look, we already have a privacy breach. Elana Glowatz reports:
Port Jefferson school district Superintendent Ken Bossert assured the community on Tuesday that an error that sent state test scores to the wrong households was a one-time occurrence.
Many middle school parents visited the district office this week to turn in results that had been mailed to them for the wrong children.
The results were for math and English language arts exams the students took last year. According to an email Bossert sent to parents on Monday, the New York State Education Department sends testing data to BOCES, which then “attaches a cover letter from my office, and mails score reports directly to parents.” But some students’ names appeared with incorrect addresses and thus went to the wrong homes.
