A McCordsville teenager is named as one of four gamers charged by a federal grand jury in a computer hacking operation.
The four are accused of breaking into the networks of well-known tech companies – including Microsoft Corporation, Epic Games Inc., Valve Corporation, Zombie Studios – as well as the U.S. Army and stealing over $100 million in intellectual property and data.Austin Alcala, 18, of McCordsville, faces charges in the 18-count indictment, including conspiracies to commit computer fraud, copyright infringement, wire fraud, mail fraud, identity theft and theft of trade secrets. The defendants are also charged with individual counts of aggravated identity theft, unauthorized computer access, copyright infringement and wire fraud.
