The Maricopa County Community College District continues to deal with fallout from the massive computer-system breach last year, and the latest figures show the cost to taxpayers to deal with it has now topped $26 million.

To date, the MCCCD breach stands as the largest breach in the U.S. education sector in terms of number of individuals who had their personal and/or financial information compromised or potentially compromised. At least two potential class action lawsuits have been filed by some of those whose data were involved.
Both this blogger and EPIC.org have filed formal complaints with the Federal Trade Commission about this breach, urging the FTC to investigate MCCCD for violations of the Safeguards Rule.
