PHIprivacy.net had a select and very dedicated readership, but it was time to consolidate my work and put all breach reports back together on one site.
As of today, there is a new “Health Data” category on DataBreaches.net. That category will continue to be used for breaches involving the healthcare sector, but now it will also be used for reporting breaches by business entities and government agencies that involve health data – even if it is not protected by HIPAA.
Similarly, breaches in the Education sector that involve student health data will still be categorized under Education, but will also be checked for “Health Data.”
I hope you find this new approach helpful to you in your work or research. Some privacy breaches will still be covered on PogoWasRight.org, such as revenge porn cases, upskirting, and the kinds of breaches that aren’t data breaches as much as intentional privacy breaches.
If you have any comments or questions about the new system, please use the Comments section for this post.
Cheers,
