Meritus Medical Center is contacting patients about a “privacy incident” that may have compromised personal data, including names, demographics, clinical information and Social Security numbers.
Meritus mailed out letters Friday to 1,029 individuals who may have been affected after conducting an investigation into the matter, according to a news release and a Meritus spokeswoman.

On May 4, officials discovered in a routine audit that an employee of one of Meritus’ “trusted vendors,” whose job required access to some patient information, may have accessed limited information outside the worker’s normal job duties between July 2014 and April 2015.
Meritus immediately suspended the employee’s access to its system and opened an investigation, officials said.
