Alfa Specialty Insurance Corp. and Alfa Vision Insurance Corp. are notifying some customers that personal information related to auto insurance policies was inadvertently exposed on the Internet. The exposure was discovered on May 4th. The source of the exposure was one of their servers in their Brentwood, Tennessee location.
Exposed information included customers’ names, addresses, dates of birth, driver’s license numbers, and Social Security numbers. The firms say they have no evidence of misuse of the information, but do not report whether any forensic investigation disclosed that the data had been downloaded during the period of exposure.
The number of customers impacted was not disclosed in their counsel’s letter to the New Hampshire Attorney General’s Office. Nor was the total period of exposure.
Those notified by letter on July 10th were offered free credit monitoring services with AllClear ID.
