Ohio-based Tremco, Inc. is notifying employees whose personal information – including Social Security numbers – was on a laptop left on an airplane June 17th by a Human Resources employee. The employee reported the loss immediately, but so far, the laptop has not been recovered.
Several weeks after the loss, the employee realized that there were spreadsheets with employee information on the laptop.
The laptop was configured with software which has enabled the roofing material and maintenance materials manufacturer to determine that the laptop has not been powered up or accessed.
Those affected are being offered two years of protection with Experian ProtectMyID Elite.
Tremco’s LinkedIn account lists it as having 1001-5000 employees. The number of employees affected by this incident was not disclosed in their notification letter, a copy of which was sent to the Vermont Attorney General’s Office.
