Social media users claiming to be members of the extremist group say they have hacked computers belonging to the American military and harvested details including photographs, addresses and even credit card information of army, navy and state department figures.
Most of the shocking release relates to American military and diplomatic personnel, however the details of workers at Croydon and Stockport councils and the Foreign Office have also been leaked.
If confirmed, it the hack represent a huge breach of western security and raise fears of the possibility of ‘lone wolf’ attacks against armed forces personnel.
